Initial Inspection and Diagnostic Overview

When performing tests on the LH-Jetronic II fuel injection system, observe the following precautions.
1. Ignition switch must be in ``Off'' position when connecting or disconnecting electrical connector at control unit.
2. Do not replace control unit without checking wiring and components, as the new control unit may be damaged in the same fashion as the original.
3. Never check connector terminals from front. Remove connector cover and check terminals through the holes in side of connector. Terminal numbers are stamped on connector side.
4. Do not expose control unit to temperatures above 176°F.
5. System should be serviced under clean conditions. Clean all fuel connections before disconnection.
6. Always use new gaskets and seals.
7. Ignition system must be disconnected when checking compression or performing similar work. Otherwise, arcing to injectors or injector wiring may damage control unit or arcing to ignition coil low tension side may damage Hall IC-chip in distributor.
8. Ensure that battery is fully charged when checking components.
9. Take extreme caution to avoid causing sparks.
