Hard Starting
FAULT INDICATIONSEngine cranks excessively before starting.
Engine hot.
FAULT TRACING CONDITIONS
Before fault tracing, ensure that:
^ No diagnostic trouble codes are present,
^ The engine cranks normally (starter motor operates), and
^ The engine is mechanically sound (valve timing, compression, etc..).
^ All fuses are clean and intact.
FAULT SOURCES
^ Excessive resistance in engine speed sensor connector.
^ Excessive resistance in camshaft position sensor connector.
^ Faulty engine speed sensor (especially HOT).
^ Leaking EGR valve.
^ Leaking EGR controller.
^ Excessive resistance in engine coolant temperature sensor connector.
^ Faulty engine coolant temperature sensor.
^ Faulty or damaged spark plugs or leads.
^ Faulty or damaged secondary ignition components.
^ Incorrect fuel (line or residual) pressure.
^ Excessive resistance in Ignition System's power stage connector.
