Control Module: Description and Operation

Transmission Control Module:

PURPOSE
The transmission control module supplies the ECM with the following information and requests:
- that gear selector is in park/neutral position
- request to operate th malfunction indicator light (MIL)
- request to reduce boost pressure when reverse is engaged
- request to reduce boost rpessure when 1st is engaged and engine speed is below 3000 RPM

NOTE: The ECM uses gear change information to reduce torque immediately before a shift is performed. Torque is reduced by retarding timing and reducing boost pressure (maximum of 1 second).
