Operation CHARM: Car repair manuals for everyone.
Manuals through 2025 now available!

Our trusted friends have launched a new website named LEMON, which has newer manuals. It also contains all the CHARM manuals.

LEMON is the spiritual successor to CHARM, I recommend you try it!

Caster Adjustment

Caster angle can be adjusted by replacing control arm strut.
- A shorter strut reduces caster angle by 0.8°, and a longer strut increases caster angle by 0.8°.

Length of Struts are:
Standard: 390.5 mm (15.4 in)
Short: 385.0 mm (15.2 in)
Long: 396.0 mm (15.6 in).

NOTE: The struts are 5.5 mm (0.22 in) longer than they were. This gives a larger caster angle which means a greater self-centering effect.

If the caster is +3°, upper mount has been installed upside down.
- Remove locking nuts and turn it to correct position.
- After adjusting caster angle, toe-in must be adjusted to specified value.

NOTE: The illustration shows an earlier variant of suspension tower (up to 1984).
