Control system

The AW 30-40 and AW 30-43 automatic transmissions are controlled both electronically and hydraulically. Electronic control makes transmission operation more advanced and more efficient, and enables it to be linked with other on-board electronic control systems.

The transmission control module (TCM) is located under the dashboard at the right-hand side of the footwell. In left-hand drive cars from 1993 on, the TCM is mounted on the firewall panel to the left of the steering column.





The TCM is provided with a label on which information including the P/N and serial number is impressed. The large figure '1' is a version number indicating that the unit is designed for the AW 30-43 transmission. TCMs for the AW 30-40 bear the figure '3'.
