Valve Plate Replacement

Mount compressor in vise with valve cover facing upward.




Mark cover, valve plate and housing.

Remove screws and cover.
If necessary, pry protruding edge of cover carefully with screwdriver.

Remove valve plate.
Use implement such as metal blade, taking care to avoid scoring plate. Clean remains of gasket from compressor housing and valve cover.

Assembly
Place valve plate with new gasket on housing.




Ensure that locating pin is seated in correct guide hole so that cover mounting screws fit.

Place cover on valve plate with new gasket.




Ensure that markings correspond.

Tighten screws diagonally to 15 Nm (11 ft lb).


Caution: Ensure that system contains PAG oil is system was filled originally with R134a refrigerant. Since PAG oil absorbs a great deal of atmospheric moisture, the oil may not be reused.

Fill unit with oil.
Tighten oil plug to 10 Nm (7 ft lb).
