Repair of Integral Antenna In Rear Side Window:

HA1 Determining Position of Break:




NOTE! It is not possible to repair the antenna if the break in the metal strip exceeds 2 mm (0.079 in). If the break in the metal strip is exceeds 2 mm (0.079 in) the window should be replaced.

Determine the exact position of the break, either by eye or by using an ohmmeter on the metal strip. (The ohm-meter will read infinity if there is a break).

HA2 Cleaning Repair Site:




With the point of a knife (1), carefully scrape the metal Strip clean on each side of the break. Clean the repair site on the glass with window cleaner (2).

HA3 Installing Masking Template:




Install the masking template onto the window with the slot over the metal strip. If the metal strip is narrower than the slot on the template, cut the template in half and adjust it to the correct width.

HA4 Applying Repair Compound:




Coat the metal strip with repair compound 3 times with 5 minutes interval between coats. Coat approx. 5 mm (0.20 in) either side of the break.

NOTE: Shake the repair compound container thoroughly before use. Clean with thinners.

HA5 Hardening:




Allow repair compound to dry for 30 minutes before removing masking template.

NOTE: The repair site will be much more sensitive than the rest of the antenna.
