DD. Checking Door Lock Switch In Trunk Lid Handle

DDA. Fault Tracing

Condition
No diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) stored.

Possible Source
Open-circuit in signal cable from trunk lid handle door lock switch.
Open-circuit in door lock switch ground lead.
Faulty door lock switch.
Start fault-tracing with DDB.


DDB1. Checking Door Lock Switch In Trunk Lid Handle






Ignition on.
Go into scrolling values.
Pull the trunk lid handle.
Read off the status of the trunk lid handle.
The value should be LOW when the handle is pulled.
Is the value LOW?
Yes: Fault not found
No: Go to DDB2.

DDB2. Checking Connectors





Remove trunk lid lining.
Check VGLA control module connector, the white license plate lighting connector and the handle door lock switch for contact resistance and oxidation according to WWA5 WW. Checking Wiring and Connections

Ignition on.
Go into scrolling values.
Pull the trunk lid handle.
Read off the status of the trunk lid handle.
The value should be LOW when the handle is pulled.
If the value is OK the cause of the fault has been loose connections in the connectors.
Is the value LOW?
1mYes: Fault corrected
No: Go to DDB3.


DDB3. Checking For An Open-Circuit





Check cable between VGLA control module #A23 and the door lock switch for the trunk lid handle and cable between the door lock switch for the trunk lid handle and ground for an open-circuit according to WWA2 WW. Checking Wiring and Connections

Were any faults found in the cables?
Yes: Go to DDB5.
No: Go to DDB4.


DDB4. Replacing Component

Replace the door lock switch for the trunk lid handle.
Then continue with DDB5.


DDB5. Verification





Hint: After carrying out the repair check that the fault has been remedied.

Ignition off.
Reconnect connectors, reinstall components.
Ignition on.
Go into scrolling values.
Pull the trunk lid handle.
Read off the status of the trunk lid handle. The value should be LOW when the handle is pulled.
Is the value LOW?
Yes: Fault corrected
No: Fault not found
