Plastic Components/Paint Work

Plastic components/paint work

General

Paint Work
The painting process is the same as that used on other Volvo models.
The paint work consists of three coats in the case of solid finishes and four coats on metallics.
- The first coat is an ED primer applied by immersing the body in a bath.
- A surfacer is then applied.
- Solid finishes are completed by applying a single top coat.
- Metallic finishes are completed by applying a base coat and clear coat.

Painted plastic components
Painted plastic components include the front and rear bumpers, door mirror housings, boot lid panel, panels under the rear lights, side trim mouldings and door handles.
The door mirror housings, door handles, boot lid panel and panels under the rear lights are made of ABS plastic. The front bumper, rear bumper and side trim mouldings are made of a plastic known as PP/EPDM.
Damaged plastic components may be repaired in accordance with Volvo's recommended repair procedures using the 3M and Teroson methods.
