Open trunk lid
Open trunk lid.

Remove storage well seal
Insert bone tool (1) under edge of storage well seal. Carefully pry up and completely remove from lip of storage well.

Bond cover plate seal at third brake light
Illustration shows bonding process, illustrates where to apply silicone.
Bond lip on seal as per illustration with silicone sealer.
Be careful not to get silicone on glass or any visible surfaces.
Hint:
Cut off the tip off the nozzle at a 3-degree angle.
Hint:
Clean off excess silicone with a dry rag.
Allow silicone to cure 30 minutes before reinstalling storage well seal as described below.

Apply lubricant
Apply a thin film of silicone grease along entire exposed undersurface of cover plate seal.
(This will reduce friction between the cover plate seal and the storage well seal.)

Reinstall storage well seal
Work from one end to the other.
Position top edge of well seal underneath the cover plate seal.
Be sure that storage well seal sits firmly on lip of storage well.
Close trunk.

Check adjustment of trunk lid and cover plate
Check adjustment of trunk lid and cover plate according to the following steps to ensure correct fit.

Adjust trunk lid / cover plate
Alignment specifications on the trunk lid after adjustment in X-direction (longitudinal way).

Adjustment of cover plate
Loosen the hinge screws sufficiently to allow adjustment. Adjust trunk lid so that it is parallel with the edge of trunk storage compartment. Distance (C) between coverplate and trunk lid should be approximately 4-6 mm (0.160-0.240"), and height (D) should be 0-2 mm (0-0.080). The distance between the trunk lid and body should be 4-6 mm (0.160-0.240"), and height (A) should be 0-2 mm (0-0.080").
Tighten the hinge screws to 25 Nm (18 lbs).
