Removal

Preparation

Lower the window to its bottom position

Removing the door panel

Remove

- rubber mat in storage compartment

- cover on screw in handle

- screw in handle

- frame around inner door opener

- panel over rear-view mirror attachment

- press clips (6-pcs) from the underside of the door

- press clips (2 pcs) from the side of the door

Push down the striker plate in the bottom of the storage compartment and pull out the panel from the underside.

The panel is held with 2 inner clips at the rear and front edge.

Lift off the panel. Start at the rear edge.

Raise the window to its topmost position.

Separating connectors





Disconnecting connectors for

- loudspeakers (1)

- electric rear-view mirrors (2)

- window lifts (3)

- door locks (only driver's side) (3)

- luggage compartment (only driver's side) and filler cap (only driver's side) (4)

Removing Insulating mat





Remove the insulating mat (1).

Hint:
Use a trim tool to remove insulation mat.

Removing the lock button





Remove lock button from lock unit.

Removing the cable





Remove the inner door opener (4 screws).

Carefully bend the catch (5) away, and release the cable end (1) from the inner door opener

Measuring the distance





Measure and write down distance (A) before removing the adjusting screw.

You can also count and write down how many turns it takes to remove the adjusting screw from the window frame.

Remove lock nut, adjuster screw





Remove lock nut from adjusting screw Use a torx driver as counterhold.

Removing rear adjusting screw





Unscrew the long part of the adjusting screw (3) from the window frame (1). Count the number of turns if you did not measure and write down distance (A) according to step 7.

Push the window frame (1) towards the outer door panel.

Pull the short part of the adjusting screw (2) out from the door panel.

Preparation to release door handle and lock unit





Remove:

- covers from screws.

- screws (A) for handle

- screws (B) for lock unit. Do not loosen the lower screw completely yet.

Removing the position light





Move the position light upward and turn it outward as shown in the illustration.

Remove the connector from position light assembly.

Releasing the harness





Release harness from door panel.

Compress clip (1) with fingers and push it into the door.

Releasing door handle (older design)





Note!
The handle must not be removed from its joint (2), at any time while performing this method.

The old design has a round "button" shaped attaching joint on the lever of the lock unit.

Remove clips between handle and lock unit (1).

Slightly pull the handle out from the door panel.

Releasing door handle (new design)





Note!
The handle must not be removed from its joint (see illustration (2), step 13), at any time while performing this method.

The new design has a "claw" shaped attaching joint on the lever of the lock unit.

The lock pin (1) on the driver's side and the opening mechanism joint (2) should be loose.

Removing lock cylinder on driver's side





Note!
Be careful with any painted surfaces.

Slightly pull the handle out from the door panel.

Carefully remove cover (3). Start at (4). Pull straight out.

Pry out the lock spring (5) and push out the lock cylinder.

Removing the lock unit





Insert lock cable in door, between the power window cable and inner door panel.

Remove screw (1).

Note!
Do not let go of the lock unit. Hold it in position.

Hold the lock unit according to the illustration when removing it.

Note!
If the cable is to be re-used, it is important not to bend it too much.

Carefully move the lock unit downward along the outer short side of the door until you reach the bottom bend.

Do not turn.

Push the window cartridge toward the outer door panel.

At the same time, pull the lock unit along the bottom of the door toward the door hinges.

Disconnect the two electrical connectors from the lock unit.

Rotate the lock unit when directly in front of the opening in the door around the bottom part of the window cartridge.

Lift out the lock unit.
