Volvo Scan Tool (ST)






General
The Scan Tool (ST) and memory cassette make it possible to communicate with the car's various control modules. By connecting the Volvo Scan Tool (ST) to the data link connector (DLC) diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) can be read and erased, components and functions can be activated, output and input signals can be read, functions reset etc.

Connecting the Volvo Scan Tool (ST)
- Ignition off.
- Install the correct memory cassette.
- Connect the Volvo Scan Tool (ST) with wiring to the data link connector (DLC) located under the center console cover.
- Ignition on.
- Power up the Volvo Scan Tool (ST).
- Select language, car and group of functions using the menu.
- Select system using the menu.
- When the Volvo Scan Tool (ST) has established contact with the system a menu is displayed. Select DIAGNOSTIC TEST to read and erase diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs), activate components/functions and reset adaptations.

Using the Volvo Scan Tool (ST)






It is possible to:
Read off and erase diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs), counters and frozen values.
Read off (and erase) alarm causes.
Activate components/functions according to predetermined patterns.
Continuously monitor the value and status of input and output signals.
Read off control module identification.
Reading off and programming the lock and alarm system.

To activate the Volvo on-board diagnostic (OBD) system:
ignition on
battery voltage normal.
