Operation CHARM: Car repair manuals for everyone.

General Description

General:

The control unit has built-in diagnostics, Volvo Diagnose II, which continually monitor the unit and the input and output signals. The control unit designation is Convertible top Control Unit (CCU).

Diagnostic Trouble Codes:
If the control unit detects a fault, it stores a diagnostic trouble code. The control unit can store up to 34 diagnostic trouble codes.

If, for any reason, a fault disappears after the diagnostic trouble code has been permanently stored in the control unit, information about the fault still remains in the control unit (except diagnostic trouble code CCU-210 - No speed signal).

Reading Volvo Diagnostics:

Information about any faults and other information can be read using the Volvo System Tester connected to the data link connector under the center console cover. The Volvo System Tester communicates with the control unit in a standardized communications mode.

Volvo Diagnostics:

The Volvo System Tester can be used to:
- Read and erase stored diagnostic trouble codes.
- Calibrate the [1][2]hood and control unit.
- Continuously read the values and status of the system's input and output signals.
- Activate certain functions.
- Program the control unit with certain data.
- Read the control unit identification.
