Checking Air Conditioning (A/C) system







Hint: When a fault has been detected it is necessary to check that its symptom no longer exists. Check as follows:

- Ignition off.
- Connect connectors, reinstall components etc.
- Start the engine and allow to run 1500 - 1600 rpm.
- Turn the passenger compartment temperature selector to maximum cooling.
- Set the Air Conditioning (A/C) switch so that the A/C function is activated.
- Set the air distribution selector switch to VENT.
- Set the recirculation button to recirculation.
- Set the blower fan switch at approximately 70% of full speed.
- Close hood.
- Close doors and windows.
- Apply a thermometer in one of the central dashboard vents.
- Allow the system to stabilize itself for at least 8 minutes.







- Run the engine at 1500 - 1600 rpm.
Check temperature in the center dashboard vents.

The read off temperature should be within the specified values.
A is outside temperature, measured in front of the car, and
B is the temperature of expelled air in the central dashboard vents:

- If A is 20 °C (68 °F), B should be 5 - 8 °C (41 - 46.4°F).
- If A is 30 °C, B should be 5 - 8 °C (41 - 46.4°F).
- If A is 40 °C, B should be 8 - 12 °C (46.4 - 53.6°F).
