- Start engine.
- Go into rolling values.
Read off engine speed (RPM) at different engine speeds and compare with tachometer.





Do engine speed (RPM) and tachometer agree?

Yes - Troubleshooting procedure complete

No - Checking programmed engine speed (RPM) for tachometer

- Read off and note maximum tachometer engine speed (RPM).
- Disconnect the Scan Tool (ST) from the VIDA station.
- Connect Volvo Scan Tool (ST) to data link connector (DLC).
- Ignition on.
- Go into "read combi" under "program combi".
- Read off maximum tachometer engine speed (RPM).





Does programmed engine speed (RPM) agree with maximum engine speed (RPM)?

Yes - Replacing component

No - Programming combined instrument panel

Replacing component
Try a new gauge according to Replacing tachometer, temperature gauge, fuel gauge and speedometer Replacing Tachometer, Temperature Gauge, Fuel Gauge and Speedometer.

- Ignition off.
- Disconnect the Volvo Scan Tool (ST) from the data link connector (DLC).
- Connect Volvo Scan Tool (ST) to the VIDA station.
- Reinstall connectors, components etc.
- Start engine.
- Go into rolling values.
Read off engine speed (RPM) at different engine speeds and compare with tachometer.

Yes - Fault has been remedied

No - Fault-tracing information
