Checking the Central Locking, Unlocking

Checking the central locking, unlocking

Checking the connector for the SRS control module

- Ignition off.
- Disconnect the battery negative lead.
- Expose and disconnect the connector from the SRS control module according to Replacing the SRS module Service and Repair.

Caution! Avoid touching the control module terminal pins. There is a risk of static discharge which may damage the control module.

- Check the cable terminals in the female connector and the SRS control module connector terminals.

Note! The cable terminals must not be damaged or pressed back.

- Install and disconnect the SRS control module connector. Check that the connector locks into the control module.
1. The female and male connector halves are OK.
2. The male terminal on the control module connector is defective.
3. The female terminal on the connector is defective.

Select one of the above options.

1 - Checking the voltage in the cable

2 - Replacing the component

Checking the voltage in the cable

- Ignition on.
- Connect the battery negative lead.
Connect a voltmeter between ground and SRS control module connector 34.

The voltmeter should read approximately 10 V.

OK - Fault-tracing information

Not OK - Checking the resistance in the cable

-------------------------------------------------

Fault-tracing information
This result indicates that there are no faults in the system.

-------------------------------------------------

Checking the resistance in the cable

- Ignition off.
- Disconnect the central locking system control module from the connector, Replacing main control module Replacing Main Control Module.

Caution! Avoid touching the control module terminal pins. There is a risk of static discharge which may damage the control module.

Connect an ohmmeter between SRS control module connector 34 and central locking system connector A10. Check for an open-circuit according to Checking wiring and terminals. Permanent fault Checking Wiring and Terminals. Permanent Fault.

Other information:
- To access / replace the control module, see Replacing the SRS module Service and Repair.

The ohmmeter should read approximately 0 W.

OK - Check the central locking system cable for a short-circuit to ground

Not OK - Replacing the component

-------------------------------------------------

Replacing the component
If the ohmmeter displays an infinite value there is an open-circuit in the cable between central locking system connector A10 and SRS control module connector 34.
- Check the cable and repair or replace the SRS cable harness.

Continue - Verification

Check the central locking system cable for a short-circuit to ground

- Ignition off.
- Disconnect the battery negative lead.
- Connect the SRS control module connector.
- The connector for the central locking system control module must be disconnected.
Connect an ohmmeter between ground and central locking system connector 10A.

The ohmmeter should read approximately 1.2 MW.

OK - Replacing the component

Not OK - Checking the cable between the central locking system control module and the SRS control module

Hint: After carrying out the repair, check that the fault has been remedied.

- Ignition off.
- Reinstall the connectors, components etc.
- Connect the battery negative lead.
Connect a voltmeter between ground and SRS control module connector 34.

The voltmeter should read approximately 10 V.

OK - Fault has been remedied

Not OK - Fault-tracing information

Information

Fault-tracing information
The fault should be diagnosed and remedied. Since this is not the case the fault-tracing process has failed.
Complete the fault-tracing for those fault or try again.

Do you want to terminate fault-tracing at this time?

Yes - Exit fault-tracing

No - Attempt New Test
