Replacing the Oil Temperature Sensor






Replacing the oil temperature sensor

Note! Avoid skin contact with transmission fluid.

Preparations




Remove:
- Battery
- The air cleaner housing ACL assembly with intake pipe
- The battery shelf.
Remove:
- The air cleaner (ACL) housing bracket

Disassembling connectors




Note the rubber gasket.
Disconnect the connector from the transmission
Remove the tie straps for the cable harnesses and rubber seal.
Remove sockets from connector casing.
Insert a screwdriver between the casing and socket and press the catch in. At the same time slide the sockets out of the casing.





Remove the socket for the cables to oil temperature sensor.
2-pin, pins 12 and 13.





Remove the cable pins from the base.
Push in the catches beneath the base and slide out the red lock lug slightly.

Removing the splash guard under the engine




Drain the oil from the transmission. Reinstall the oil plug with a new seal.
Tighten to: 40 Nm .

Removing sensor




Clean thoroughly round the sensor.
Remove the sensor.
Collect the oil in a container.

Installing a new sensor




Rub some Vaseline on the sensor O-ring.
Tighten to: 25 Nm





Remove the cables' pins from the base.
Push in the catch beneath the base and slide the red lock lug out slightly.

Insert the cables between the oil cooler hose and the control system cover.
Install the splashguard under the engine.
Route the cables under the gear selector connector.
Take care not to damage the cables.





Reconnect the cables to the base.
Pin 12: blue/red cable
Pin 13: blue/black cable
Check that the pins are correctly positioned in the base.





Assemble the connector.
Make sure that the rubber seal is in place.
Install the cable clamps around the cable harnesses and the rubber seal.
Install the connector on the transmission.
Connect the connector from the car.
Note the rubber gasket.





Install:
- The bracket for the air cleaner (ACL) housing
- The battery shelf
- The air cleaner (ACL) housing with intake pipe and connections.
- The battery.
Top up oil and check according to Checking oil level Checking Oil Level.

Checking diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs)
Check and erase any diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs).


Note! After replacing the transmission oil, the "Transmission oil change" counter must be reset.
