Connecting the test box
- Ignition off.
- Disconnect the ABS control module by first pushing in the catch at the back of the cover (toward the wheel housing) Then lift cover carefully upward to release catches.
- Check the control module and control module connector to see that: Male pins and female pins are intact and securely in place (cannot be pushed in. The leads to the female pins are properly connected to the pins.
- Check the pin(s) relevant to the DTC or symptom particularly carefully.
- Connect adapter 9511354 to the control module connector (towards leads) and connect test box 981 3190 to the adapter.
- Control module disconnected.
- Thereafter check the contact points as per [JJJA2].

Check the contact points
- Ignition off.
- Switch off everything which works off the battery, such as the passenger compartment lighting and the radio.
- connect an ohmmeter between the battery negative terminal and #8 and #24 on the test box.
The ohmmeter should indicate approx. 0 ohms for each measurement.
If reading is OK: Return to fault-tracing where you left off
If reading is incorrect: Check the contact point 1/1 (battery negative terminal) and the cable between contact point and control module #8 and #24 for breaks and contact resistance
- Return to fault-tracing where you left off.
