Checking Components And Wiring







- Ignition off.
- Disconnect battery negative terminal.
- Disconnect seat connector.
- Check connector for contact resistance and oxidation Checking Wiring and Terminals - Permanent Faults
- If the seat connector is defective it must be replaced


CAUTION
The special tool must be checked and faultless. If the tool is defective it will cause errors in the diagnosis and make fault-tracing harder.


- Install special tool 861 8437 on connector.
- Reconnect the battery negative lead.
- Ignition on.

Read off diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs).

If the fault is in the SIPS bag the diagnostic trouble code (DTC) status will have changed to intermittent. In this case the SIPS bag must be replaced.
