Connection of Breakout Box ECC

Connecting The Breakout Box To The ECC Control Module

Special tools: 981 3190, 981 3194

- Ignition off.
- Expose ECC Control module according to Replacing ECC control module Service and Repair
- Disconnect control module.
- Check the control module and control module connectors for damage to the pins in the male and female connectors and that none of them are loose (cannot be pushed inward), also check that cables to the female pins are correctly attached to the cable terminal.
- Check the terminals relevant to the diagnostic trouble code (DTC)/symptom especially well. See Signal Specifications EEC Signal Specification ECC
- Connect adapter 981 3194 (30-pin and 10-pin terminal) to the control module connector (towards the wiring) and connect breakout box 981 3190 to adapter.

Hint: Control module terminals #A1-#A30 is equivalent to #1-#30 on the on the breakout box and #B1-#B10 is equivalent to #47-#56 on the breakout box.

- The breakout box is designed to make it easier to take input/output signal readings with the control module still connected and also to test the resistance of the cables and components when the control module is disconnected. Using the breakout box reduces the risk of accidentally short-circuiting cables or damaging terminals in the connectors.
