Checking Power and Ground Terminal - Engine Management System

CHECKING (ECM) POWER SUPPLY AND GROUND TERMINAL

Checking power supply
- Check fuse 11 B/3. If the fuse is blown check the circuit after the fuse for a short-circuit to ground according to [1][2]Checking Wiring and Terminals. Permanent Fault

- Check fuse 11 B/1. If the fuse is blown check the circuit after the fuse for a short-circuit to ground according to [1][2]Checking Wiring and Terminals. Permanent Fault

- Check power supply to # A70. Voltage should be approximately battery voltage.

- Check power supply to # B11. Voltage should be approximately battery voltage.

Checking ground terminal
- Check ground lead between engine control module (ECM) # A53, # A54 # A63 and right side member ground terminal 31/71 for an open-circuit according to [1][2]Checking Wiring and Terminals. Permanent Fault

- Check engine control module (ECM) ground terminal for contact resistance and oxidation according to [1][2]Checking Wiring and Terminals. Permanent Fault

Remedy as necessary

Other information
- Connecting the breakout box/accessing the control module, Connecting the Breakout Box (ECM)
- Power supply to the engine control module (ECM) # A70 is from fuse 11 B/3 via the system relay.
- Power supply to engine control module (ECM) # B11 is from fuse 11 B/1 via terminal 30+.
- The engine control module (ECM) ground terminal is common to engine control module (ECM) terminals # A53, # A54 and # A63.

Was a fault detected?
Yes - Testing Complete
No - Continue below.

Fault-tracing information
The fault should have been detected and remedied. As this is not the case fault-tracing has failed. Exit fault tracing for this diagnostic trouble code (DTC) or make another attempt.
