CDE. Handling of Replacement SRS Modules/Seat Belt





CDE1 Handling






Unreleased airbag modules/pyrotechnical seat belt tensioners must not be fired or released, whether installed in the car or removed. Removal is accomplished according to the instructions in sections:

CCA. After a collision in which the SRS system has been activated Service Precautions
CDA. Removal of steering wheel airbag module, steering wheel and contact reel. Service and Repair
CDD. Replacement of passenger side airbag module Service and Repair
CDC. Replacement of the SRS control unit Service and Repair
CEA. Replacement of front seat belt Service and Repair
CEB. Replacement of a rear seat belt Service and Repair

Return removed airbag modules/pyrotechnical seat belt tensioners to Volvo in the following way.


WARNING! Do not unscrew or repair the airbag modules/pyrotechnical seat belt tensioners or install them in another vehicle.


WARNING! Never use an ohmmeter or any other charged measuring instrument on a disconnected, unreleased airbag module/pyrotechnical seat belt tensioner. There is a risk that the airbag module/pyrotechnical seat belt tensioner could be released!

CDE2. Storing and Transporting

During storage and transportation, handle the airbag modules/pyrotechnical seat belt tensioners in accordance with the national regulations of the country.
