Removal
Removing on the left-hand side
Remove the wheel.

Remove:





- the brake pipes from the mounting clip on the rear axle
- the three-way junction from the trailing arm.

Note! Applies to the left-hand side only.

Remove the screws from the brake caliper.
Hang up the caliper.

Removing components





Release the adjuster for the parking brake shoes.

Remove:
- the locating pin
- the brake disc
- the cap
- the nut for the hub
- the hub.

Replacing the wheel spindle





Remove the sensor from the ABS system.

Note! Do not disconnect the sensor connector.

Remove the parking brake shoes.

Remove:





- the screw for the brake cable in the backing plate.
Remove the bracket for the cable guide sleeve (applies to early versions only)
- the 4 screws for the brake backing plate and for the retaining spring for the brake shoes
- the brake backing plate.


Removing the center console

Remove the center console.

Parking brake





Remove the cable from the parking brake
Remove the circlip from the cable segment. Remove the segment from the axle and cable.





Pull out the cable and remove the parking brake segment from the cable. Do not damage the protective cover for the cable.





Remove the 4 screws holding the end piece on the wheel spindle.
- Hold the wheel spindle while removing the screws
- Release the parking brake cable from the end piece on the wheel spindle by bending the cable cover sleeve up and down a little
- Remove the shaft.


Installation
Check





Ensure that the surfaces on the trailing arm and wheel spindle end piece are clean before installing.
Check that O-ring on cable cover sleeve is OK. Press the cover sleeve into the end piece on the wheel spindle.

Installing the end piece on the wheel spindle





Use new screws. Tighten the screws crosswise. Tighten to 35 Nm. Angle tighten 60°.
Use bevel protractor 951 2050.

Brake cable





Connect the brake cable to the segment.
Insert the cable in the sleeve.





- Connect the segment to the cable
- Install the segment on the axle and lever
- Install the circlip. Ensure that the circlip is in its track

Installing the center console

Part 2 Of 2:





Install the center console.

Installing the gasket between the end piece on the wheel spindle and the brake backing plate
Install:





- the backing plate together with the brake shoe springs.
Tighten the upper screws. Tighten to 25 Nm. Tighten the loner screws. Tighten to 20 Nm
- the bracket for the brake cable in the backing plate.

Installing the brake shoes and the adjuster





- Clean and install the ABS sensor. Use a soft brush for cleaning
- Install the ABS sensor. Applies only if the wheel spindle is changed. Tighten to 10 Nm
- To install the hub, see (V23B140)

Replacing the pulse wheel





Press the pulse wheel off the hub.
Use drift 999 5351, spacer 999 5350 and counterhold 999 5340.

Installing the pulse wheel





Press in pulse wheel.
Use drift 999 5351 and counterhold 999 2X61. Ensure that the pulse wheel is straight on the hub.

Note! Check the position of the pulse wheel during installation. See the dimension in the illustration, 49 [plusmn] 0.5 mm.

Installing the hub





Ensure the shaft is clean.
Use a new nut. Tighten to 120 Nm. Angle-tighten to 30°.
Use bevel protractor 951 2050.
Check that there is no play in the bearing after installation.
Install the cap.
Use drift 999 5225.





Installing brake discs and locating pins
Ensure that the mating surfaces on the disc and hub flange are clean.
Install the brake disc and the locating pin.
Tighten locating pin. Tighten to 10 Nm

Adjusting the parking brake
Adjust the brake shoes outwards until the brake disc cannot be turned. Then slacken off the adjuster 4-6 notches.

Installing brake caliper





Use new screws. Tighten to 60 Nm.
Install the brake pipe in the clips on the left-hand side.
Install the three way junction.

Installing wheels
Install the wheel according to Installing wheels.
