Replacing Right-Hand Side Headlamp Wiper Motor (With A/C)


NOTE: Reinstall the special suppression kit if installed.

Removing:

CE1 Removing Air Duct, Filler Pipe and Expansion Tank:





Ignition off.

Remove:
- front control module box (engine compartment) air duct.
- washer reservoir filler pipe.
- expansion tank, pull up.

Disconnect washer motor connector. The connector is located in the radiator support panel above the lamp hosing.

CE2 Removing Wiper Arm:





Remove:
- wiper arm.
- washer hose.

NOTE: Take care not to damage the paintwork on the bumper when removing the wiper arm.

CE3 Removing Turn Signal Lamps/Parking Lamps:





- Remove turn signal lamp/parking lamp.
- Disconnect connector.

CE4 Removing Headlamp:





Disconnect headlamp connector. The connector is connected directly to the headlamp housing. (Cars with headlamp beam adjustment have two connectors to disconnect.)

Remove:
- headlamp screws.
- headlamp.

CE5 Removing the Control Module Box Security Strap:





- Mark up the center of the screw and drill a suitable hole for a screw puller. Insert screw puller and remove the screw.
- Remove the security strap across the control module box cover.
- Clean the control module box cover carefully so that no dirt or residue falls into the box when it is opened.

CE6 Removing the Control Module Box Cover:





Remove:
- upper control module box mounting screw.
- control module box cover, pry out the metal clip using a screwdriver.

CE7 Removing Control Module Box:





- Pry out the clip at the bottom of the control module box to release its middle section.
- Carefully pull up the middle section of the control module box.

Remove:
- sleeve connector to control module box rear air intake.
- rear mounting screw.

CE8 Removing Wiper Motor:





- Pull the lower section of the control module box backwards to release it from the metal tab at the front edge of the control module box.
- Pull the control module box backwards and lift up the cable duct to access the wiper motor. (Illustration B, within image.)
- Remove the radiator support panel (three screws, illustration A, within image).

Remove:

- wiper motor screws (two screws, illustration A, within image).
- wiper motor. Pull it out from inside the engine compartment, turn the wiper motor 1/2 turn to make it easier to remove.

Installing:

CE9 Installing Wiper Motor:





Install:
- wiper motor.

NOTE: Ensure that no cables or hoses are trapped.

- wiper motor screws (two screws, illustration A, within image).
- radiator support panel screws (three screws, illustration A, within image).

Connect wiper motor connector and install it in its clip as before.

CE10 Installing Control Module Box:





- Adjust the position of the cable duct so that it is between the bodywork and radiator support panel.
- Reinstall control module box, insert the front edge under the metal tab.

CE11 Installing Control Module Box Cover:





Install:
- rear mounting screw.
- sleeve connector to control module box rear air intake.
Locate the middle section of the control module box so that the control modules locate in their slots. Then press down so that the clips engage.
- control module box cover, ensure that the clips engage.
- upper mounting screw.

CAUTION: Take care not to damage the control modules or control module box. Check that the lower and upper sections of the control module box are sealed and that the clips are properly engaged.

CE12 Installing Control Module Box Security Strap:





CAUTION: Before reinstalling security strap, ensure that the car has been repaired and no faults persist.

- Locate the slit underneath the control module box with your fingers and hook the locking strip into it.
- Fold up security strap over the control module box cover.
- Secure security strap with a security screw and tighten screw until its head breaks off.

GE13 Installing Headlamp And Wiper Arm:





Install:
- headlamp, screws, turn signal lamps/parking lamps.
- headlamp connector.
- wiper arm and nut loosely.

CE14 Installing Air Duct, Expansion Tank and Filler Pipe:





Install:
- front control module box (engine compartment) air duct.
- expansion tank.
- washer reservoir filler pipe.

CE15 Filling Windshield Washer Fluid:





Fill the washer reservoir and check that the filler pipe does not leak where it connects with the washer reservoir.

CE16 Adjusting Wiper Arm:





NOTE: Before the wiper arm is installed, check that the wiper motor has parked and that the washer hose is not trapped.

- Adjust headlamp wiper so that the wiper blade is just under the stop. Tighten to 4 Nm (2.9 ft.lbs).
- Then lift wiper arm above stop.

Test headlamp wiper function and carry out headlamp alignment. Adjustments
