CHECKING THE GROUND TERMINAL FOR THE CENTRAL ELECTRONIC MODULE (CEM)

Connecting the breakout box



Connect the breakout box.


Checking the ground terminal



- Ignition off
- Control module disconnected.
- Switch off all equipment that takes power from the battery (courtesy lighting, radio etc).

Connect an ohmmeter between terminal #B21 on the breakout box and the battery negative terminal.

The ohmmeter should read approximately 0 ohms.
OK - Testing Complete.
Not OK - Continue below.


Checking for open-circuits, contact resistance and oxidation



Check ground terminal 31/6 (LHD)/ 31/10 (RHD) and the wiring connected to it. Check for an open-circuit. Check for contact resistance and oxidation. Checking Wiring and Terminals - Permanent Faults


Verification



- Ignition off
- Control module disconnected.
- Switch off all equipment that takes power from the battery (courtesy lighting, radio etc).

Connect an ohmmeter between terminal #E1 on the breakout box and the battery negative terminal.

The ohmmeter should read 0 ohms.

Is the value OK?
Yes - Testing Complete
No - Continue below.


Fault-tracing information
The fault should be diagnosed and remedied.
Since this is not the case the fault-tracing process has failed.
