Procedures







Replacing The Steering Wheel Lock And Lock Cylinder

Special Tools: 998 5447

Preparations
- Disconnect the battery lead.
- Lower the steering wheel to its lowest position.
- Remove the lower steering column cover.

Removing The Lock Cylinder







- Turn the ignition key to position 1.
- Press the lug for the lock cylinder down using a 2 mm drift.
- Remove the steering wheel lock.

Installing The Lock Cylinder







- Insert the ignition key in the new lock.
- Turn the ignition key to position 1.
- Press the lug down using a drift. Press the cylinder into the ignition switch.
- Check the function.

Removing The Steering Wheel Lock







NOTE: The steering column must be removed to replace the steering wheel lock.

- Drill a hole in both bolts.
- Remove the security bolts. Use special tool 998 5447 or carefully tap the bolts out.

Installing The Steering Wheel Lock







- Install the steering wheel lock and bearing in the steering column.
- Tighten the two new break pins until the steering wheel lock is correctly positioned.
- Install the cylinder
- Check the function.
- Tighten the pins until the heads break off.
- Install the steering column
- Install the battery lead.

CAUTION: Always connect the battery lead.
