Variable Valve Timing Solenoid: Service and Repair






Replacing the variable valve timing solenoid

Remove the cover from the timing gear
See Replacing the cover on top of the engine Service and Repair.

Removing the variable valve timing system




- Remove the connector and the wiring beside the connector
- Remove the screw
- Carefully pull the device off
- Remove the O-ring.

Install the variable valve timing system




- Wipe up any spilled oil. Clean the mating surfaces
- Install a new O-ring
- Position the system. Turn the system into the correct position
- Install the bolt. Tighten to 8 Nm
- Connect the wiring.

Install the cover on the timing gear

Start the engine. Check for leakage.
