Connecting The Breakout Box

General information

CAUTION: Avoid touching control module connector pins and corresponding cable harness connectors. There is a risk of electrostatic discharge, which could damage the control module. Relieve any charge on yourself and the tools to be used by holding the metal part of the tool and touching part of the body just before starting work.

Visually check the connectors to ensure that the male and female terminals are not damaged and that the cables for the female halves are properly connected.

The breakout box is designed to facilitate reading off the control module input and output signals and the cable and component resistance when the control module is disconnected. The use of a breakout box reduces the risk of accidental short-circuited cables and damage to the connector pins.

Connecting the breakout box

Connect one or two breakout boxes 951 1428 to the adapter.

Supplemental restraint system module (SRS)

- Connect adapter 951 2886 to the 84-pin connector on the control module (cable harness side)
- For the 84-pin connector, terminals #1-#60 correspond to terminals #1-#60 on the breakout box which is connected to adapter terminal A. Terminals #61-#84 on the 84-pin connector correspond to terminals #1-#24 on the breakout box which is connected to adapter terminal B.
