Keyless Starting System: Testing and Inspection

Information and verification, locking/unlocking keyless lock and starting system

Symptom and function description
For locking and unlocking to be permitted by the keyless system, the following conditions must be met:
- The remote key must be on the same side of the vehicle as the door to be unlocked.
- The remote key must be within a radius of 1.5 meters from the vehicle's door handle as the antenna is located in the door handle.
- The battery in the remote key must have sufficient voltage. If the battery starts to deteriorate, the transmission strength is reduced.
- All doors should be shut and the car should be locked.

Note! How many doors and hoods are to be locked and unlocked, when using the remote key/PCC (Personal Car Communicator) and the exterior flashing indication, can be programmed on the Infotainment control module (ICM).

Note! It has become apparent that in some cases function failure occurs in the system when communications between the Remote Keyless Entry (RKE) and the remote key/PCC (Personal Car Communicator) are affected by interference. On account of increased radiation in the surroundings, e.g. from TVs and radio transmitters, mobile phones, electric meters that are readable remotely, etcetera, on rare occasions interference may affect the signal from the remote key/PCC (Personal Car Communicator).

Hint: For more information, see Design and Function.
