Battery compartment, removing

essential information in the illustrations is always correct.

Removing the battery compartment
Remove components. See Rear, exposing .

If necessary, remove:
- the outer rear. See Rear outer, replacing
- the rear bumper rail. See Bumper rail rear, replacing
- the inner rear. See Rear inner, replacing
Determine the extent of the damage. See Body seal and Body side, alignment chart .
Grind off the spot welds.
Pry off the battery compartment.
Grind clean.
Apply welding primer.

Installing the battery compartment




Secure the replacement part.
Weld into place.

Install:
- the inner rear. See Rear section inner, replacing
- the rear bumper rail. See Bumper rail rear, replacing
- the outer rear. See Rear outer, replacing .
Seal. See Body seal .

Note! For this type of damage, the whiplash system must be checked. See Whiplash unit, checking Whiplash Unit, Checking.
