Resistance Too Low

Resistance too low. Permanent fault

Checking the component

- Ignition off
- Disconnect the connector from the seat belt tensioner
- Connect special tool 951 1506 Test dummy 951 1506 Test dummy to the connector for the seat belt tensioner
Warning! Under no circumstances use an ohmmeter or other live measuring instrument to take readings on a disconnected, non-deployed, pyrotechnical seat belt tensioner. This could deploy the seat belt tensioner!

Note! The special tool must be checked and fault-free. If the tool is defective, the diagnosis readings will be incorrect. This will make fault-tracing harder.

- Switch on the ignition. Wait 10 seconds.
Read off diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs).
Try a new seat belt tensioner if the diagnostic trouble code (DTC) changes status from a permanent to an intermittent fault.

Other information:
- To replace the front seat belt tensioner, see Buckle seat belt front, replacing Buckle Seat Belt Front, Replacing. To replace the rear seat belt tensioner, see Buckle seat belt rear, replacing Buckle Seat Belt Rear, Replacing
- To check the special tool, see Calibration Programming and Relearning.

Does the status of the diagnostic trouble code (DTC) change?

Yes - Verification

No - Checking components and wiring

Checking components and wiring

- Ignition off
- Disconnect special tool 951 1506 Test dummy 951 1506 Test dummy from the connector for seat belt tensioner.

Warning! Under no circumstances use an ohmmeter or other live measuring instrument to take readings on a disconnected, non-deployed, pyrotechnical seat belt tensioner. This could deploy the seat belt tensioner!

Caution! Do not touch the terminal pins in the SRS control module. There is a risk of static discharge. This could damage the SRS control module.

Caution! For V70 2000- with model year 2000 and 2001:- If diagnostic trouble code (DTC) SRS-0085 for the right seat belt tensioner is registered, follow fault-tracing for the center seat belt tensioner (SRS-007D).- If diagnostic trouble code (DTC) SRS-007D for the center seat belt tensioner is registered, follow fault-tracing for the right seat belt tensioner (SRS-0085).

Check the cable between the SRS control module and the connector terminal for the seat belt tensioner as follows:

for diagnostic trouble code (DTC) SRS-0065,
terminals #5A(5), #6A(6) of the front left seat belt tensioner and connector terminals #1, #3.

for diagnostic trouble code (DTC) SRS-006D,
terminals #5C(1), #6C(2) of the front right seat belt tensioner and connector terminals #1, #3.

for diagnostic trouble code (DTC) SRS-0075,
terminals #16A(16), #15A(15) of the rear left seat belt tensioner and connector terminals #1, #3.

for diagnostic trouble code (DTC) SRS-007D,
terminals 17A(17), #18A(18) of the center rear seat belt tensioner and connector terminals #1, #3.

for diagnostic trouble code (DTC) SRS-0085,
terminals #16C(12), #15C(11) of the rear right seat belt tensioner and connector terminals #1, #3.
for a short-circuit to ground. See Checking wiring and terminals. Permanent fault Checking Wiring And Terminals. Permanent Fault.
Remedy as necessary.

Other information:
- To access and replace the SRS control module and connector, see Control module SRS (supplemental restraint system), replacing Service and Repair
- To replace the seat belt tensioner, see Seat belts, replacing Service and Repair
- To connect the breakout box, see Connecting the breakout box Connecting The Breakout Box
- With the ignition off and the connector for the seat belt tensioner and the SRS control module disconnected, the resistance between terminals #1 and #3 on the seat belt tensioner connector (SRS control module side) must be infinite
- With the ignition off and special tool 951 1506 Test dummy 951 1506 Test dummy connected, the resistance between the different terminals for each diagnostic trouble code (DTC) (see above) on the SRS control module connector (seat belt tensioner side) must be infinite

Fault-tracing information

Information

Fault-tracing information
The fault should have been detected and remedied. As this is not the case fault-tracing has failed.
Exit fault-tracing for this diagnostic trouble code (DTC) or make another attempt.

Do you want to exit fault-tracing?

Yes - Exit fault-tracing

No - Attempt New Test

------------------------

FAULT-TRACING FAILED - No Fault Found

Attempt New Test - Checking the component

Verification

Verification

Hint: After carrying out the repair, check that the fault has been remedied.

- Ignition off
- Disconnect the battery negative lead
- Reinstall the connectors, components etc.
- Ignition on
- Connect the battery negative lead.

Warning! There must not be anyone inside the passenger compartment when the battery is connected.

- Read off diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs).
The fault is no longer present if the diagnostic trouble code (DTC) status is intermittent.

Is the diagnostic trouble code (DTC) intermittent?
