Signal Too Low
Signal too low. Intermittent fault
Intermittent fault
- Ignition off
- Disconnect the connector from the seat belt tensioner.
Warning! Under no circumstances use an ohmmeter or other live measuring instrument to take readings from a disconnected undeployed seat belt tensioner. This could deploy the seat belt tensioner!
Caution! Do not touch the terminal pins in the SRS control module. There is a risk of static discharge. This could damage the SRS control module.
Check the connectors for the SRS module and seat belt tensioner. Check for contact resistance and oxidation. See Checking wiring and terminals. Intermittent faults Checking Wiring And Terminals. Intermittent Faults. Check for loose connections. See Checking wiring and terminals. Intermittent faults Checking Wiring And Terminals. Intermittent Faults.
Caution! For V70 2000- with model year 2000 and 2001:- If diagnostic trouble code (DTC) SRS-0081 for the right seat belt tensioner is registered, follow fault-tracing for the center seat belt tensioner (SRS-0079).- If diagnostic trouble code (DTC) SRS-0079 for the center seat belt tensioner is registered, follow fault-tracing for the right seat belt tensioner (SRS-0081).
Check the cable between the SRS control module and the connector terminal for the seat belt tensioner as follows:
for diagnostic trouble code (DTC) SRS-0061,
terminals #5A(5), #6A(6) of the front left seat belt tensioner and connector terminals #1, #3.
for diagnostic trouble code (DTC) SRS-0069,
terminals #5C(1), #6C(2) of the front right seat belt tensioner and connector terminals #1, #3.
for diagnostic trouble code (DTC) SRS-0071,
terminals #16A(16), #15A(15) of the rear left seat belt tensioner and connector terminals #1, #3.
for diagnostic trouble code (DTC) SRS-0079,
terminals #17A(17), #18A(18) of the center rear seat belt tensioner and connector terminals #1, #3.
for diagnostic trouble code (DTC) SRS-0081,
terminals #16C(12), #15C(11) of the rear right seat belt tensioner and connector terminals #1, #3.
for an intermittent short-circuit to ground according to Checking wiring and terminals. Intermittent faults Checking Wiring And Terminals. Intermittent Faults.
Remedy as necessary.

- To replace the seat belt tensioner, see Seat belts, replacing Service and Repair
- To connect the breakout box, see Connecting the breakout box Connecting The Breakout Box
- With the ignition off and the connector for the seat belt tensioner and for the SRS control module disconnected, the resistance between the seat belt tensioner connector terminals #1 and #3 (SRS control module side) and the removed battery positive pole should be infinite

If the fault is intermittent, do not verify fault-tracing if the fault does not recur.
It is possible to view the information again, or leave fault-tracing for this diagnostic trouble code (DTC).
