Resistance Too Low
Resistance too low
Checking the component
- Ignition off
- Disconnect the connector from the left seat belt tensioner on the 3rd seat row
- Connect special tool 951 1506 Test dummy 951 1506 Test dummy to the connector for the seat belt tensioner
Warning! Under no circumstances use an ohmmeter or other live measuring instrument to take readings on a disconnected, non-deployed, pyrotechnical seat belt tensioner. This could deploy the seat belt tensioner!
Note! The special tool must be checked and fault-free. If the tool is defective, the diagnosis readings will be incorrect. This will make fault-tracing harder.
- Switch on the ignition. Wait 10 seconds.
Read off diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs).
Try a new seat belt tensioner if the diagnostic trouble code (DTC) changes status from a permanent to an intermittent fault.
Other information:
- To replace the seat belt tensioner, see Seat belts, replacing Service and Repair
- To check the special tool, see Calibration Programming and Relearning.
Does the status of the diagnostic trouble code (DTC) change?
Yes - Verification
No - Checking components and wiring

Checking components and wiring
- Ignition off
- Disconnect special tool 951 1506 Test dummy 951 1506 Test dummy from the connector for seat belt tensioner.
Warning! Under no circumstances use an ohmmeter or other live measuring instrument to take readings on a disconnected, non-deployed, pyrotechnical seat belt tensioner. This could deploy the seat belt tensioner!
Caution! Do not touch the terminal pins in the Supplemental Restraint System Module (SRS). There is a risk of static discharge. This could damage the Supplemental Restraint System Module (SRS).
Check the cable between the Supplemental Restraint System Module (SRS) terminal #12A(12), terminal #11A(11) and connector terminal #1, terminal #3 on the left seat belt tensioner on the 3rd seat row. Check for a short-circuit to ground.
Check the resistance between terminals #12A(12), #11A(11) to the Supplemental Restraint System Module (SRS). The resistance between the terminals should be infinite.
Remedy as necessary.
Other information:
- To access and replace the Supplemental Restraint System Module (SRS) and connector, see Supplemental restraint system module (SRS), replacing Service and Repair
- To access and replace the seat belt tensioner, see Seat belts, replacing Service and Repair
- To connect the breakout box, see Connecting The Breakout Box
- With the ignition off and the connectors for the seat belt tensioner and the Supplemental Restraint System Module (SRS) disconnected, the resistance between connector terminals #1 and #3 on the seat belt tensioner connector (Supplemental Restraint System Module (SRS) side) should be infinite
- With the ignition off and with the special tool 951 1506 Test dummy 951 1506 Test dummy connected, the resistance between terminals #12A(12) and #11A(11) on the Supplemental Restraint System Module (SRS) connector should be infinite

Information
Fault-tracing information
The fault should have been detected and remedied. As this is not the case fault-tracing has failed.
Exit fault-tracing for this diagnostic trouble code (DTC) or make another attempt.
Do you want to exit fault-tracing?
Yes - Exit fault-tracing
No - Attempt New Test
------------------------
FAULT-TRACING FAILED - No Fault Found
Attempt New Test - Checking the component

Hint: After carrying out the repair, check that the fault has been remedied.
- Ignition off
- Disconnect the battery negative lead
- Reinstall the connectors, components etc.
- Ignition on
- Connect the battery negative lead.
Warning! There must not be anyone inside the passenger compartment when the battery is connected.
- Read off diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs).
The fault is no longer present if the diagnostic trouble code (DTC) status is intermittent.
Is the diagnostic trouble code (DTC) intermittent?
