Checking the wiring

- Ignition off, wait for 15 seconds.
- Disconnect the connector for the contact reel.
- Disconnect the gray connector from the driver's airbag stage 3.
- Disconnect the connector for Supplemental restraint system module (SRS).

Warning! Under no circumstances use an ohmmeter or other live measuring instrument to take readings on a disconnected, non-deployed, pyrotechnical airbag. This could deploy the airbag!

Check connectors for damage to pins and connections.
Check the connectors. Check for loose connections. Check for contact resistance. Check for oxidation.
Also check other connectors and connections that connect cables between Supplemental restraint system module (SRS) and the airbag.
Check the cable. Check for loose connections. Check for an open-circuit. Check for a short-circuit to ground. Check for a short-circuit to supply voltage.
Take readings between:
- Supplemental restraint system module (SRS) terminal #5B/33(33) and the connector to the contact reel terminal #5.
- Supplemental restraint system module (SRS) terminal #6B/34(34) and the connector to the contact reel terminal #6.
Connect the connector for the contact reel.
Take readings between:
- Supplemental restraint system module (SRS) terminal #5B/5(33) and the connector to driver's airbag stage 3 #1.
- Supplemental restraint system module (SRS) terminal #6B/34(34) and the connector to driver's airbag stage 3 #3.
Remedy as necessary.
