Engine - Coolant Temperature Sensor/Switch: Service and Repair






Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor

Removing

Engine cold.

- Briefly open coolant expansion tank cap to reduce residual pressure in the cooling system.

- Remove rear engine cover - arrows -.





- Free up fuel line and line to EVAP canister on air guide pipe.

- Remove air guide hose by loosening hose clamps - 2 and 5 -.





- Lay aside air guide hose with connected lines - 3 and 4 -.

Ignore - 1 -.

- Disconnect electrical connector - arrow - at Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) Sensor (G62).





Lay a cloth below to catch escaping coolant.

- Remove retaining clip and remove Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) Sensor (G62).

To improve clarity, the removed engine is shown.

Installing

Installation is in reverse order of removal, note the following:

Replace O-ring.

To prevent coolant loss, immediately insert new Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) Sensor (G62) in support.

Secure all hose connections with hose clamps appropriate for the model.
