Brake Caliper Assembly Overview, C38
Rear brakes with automatic adjustment
• Install all parts supplied in the repair kit.
1 - Brake rotor
• Always replace both sides.
• Remove the brake caliper prior to removing.
• Tighten evenly, on both sides, starting from thickness when new.
• Allocation, refer to => [ Rear Brake Specifications ] Rear Brake Specifications.
• Thickness, refer to => [ Rear Brake Specifications ] Rear Brake Specifications.
2 - Ribbed bolt, 75 Nm
• M10 x 1.25 x 60
• Always replace.
• Use socket (T40027)
3 - Brake carrier with guide pins and protective caps
• Replacement carriers are supplied assembled and with sufficient grease on the guide pins.
• If the protective caps or guide pins are damaged, replace them using the repair kit. Use the grease packet supplied to lubricate the guide pins.
4 - Ribbed bolt, 75 Nm
• Always replace.
• M10 x 1.25 x 50.
5 - Brake pads
• Always replace both sides
• Removing and installing, refer to => [ Brake Pads, C38 ] Brake Pads, C38.
• Check pad thickness.
6 - Brake rotor dust shield
7 - Bolt, 10 Nm
• M6 x 12
8 - Self-locking bolt, 35 Nm
• Always replace.
• When loosening and tightening, counter hold on the guide pin.
9 - Brake caliper housing
• Do not disconnect the brake hose when changing brake pads.
• Servicing brake calipers, refer to => [ Brake Caliper Component Overview, C38 ] Brake Caliper Component Overview, C38.
10 - Wheel bolts
• Removing and installing the wheels. Refer to => Steering and Suspension Steering and Suspension
11 - Torx bolt
• Tightening specification: 5 Nm
