Fog/Driving Lamp: Service and Repair
Fog Lamps
Fog Lamps, Audi A6 through 05.2008
Removing
- Switch off ignition and remove ignition key.
- Turn light switch into 0 position.
- Release clip - arrow A - using a screwdriver and remove air inlet grille - 1 - at lower section of bumper cover - arrows B -.
- Remove bolts - 1 - and - 2 -.
- Rotate fog lamp housing - 3 - counter-clockwise - arrow - on left side, and rotate clockwise on right side.
- Remove fog lamp housing from bumper cover.
- Disconnect connector.
Installing
Install in reverse order of removal, observing the following:
- Adjusting fog lamps.
Tightening Specifications
Fog Lamp Bulbs, Audi A6 through 05.2008
Removing
- Remove fog lamp. Refer to => [ Fog Lamps, Audi A6 through 05.2008 ].
- Release securing guides - arrows - at cap - 1 -.
- Disconnect the electrical connector - 2 - on the light.
- Disengage wire clamp - 1 - and remove bulb - 3 - from housing.
Installing
Install in reverse order of removal, observing the following:
- Insert the new bulb (H7 - 12V, 55 W - W5W) into the housing without touching the bulb with bare hands.
- Secure bulb with spring clip.
- Reconnect harness connectors and close housing cover.
- Adjusting fog lamps.
Fog Lamps, Audi A6, through 06.2008
Removing
- Switch off ignition and remove ignition key.
- Turn light switch into 0 position.
- Using a screwdriver - 2 - open the clip - 1 - - arrow - and remove the air intake grille - 3 - in the bottom of the bumper cover.
- Remove the bolts - arrows -.
- Remove the fog lamp housing - 1 - from the bumper cover.
- Disconnect the electrical connector.
Installing
Install in reverse order of removal, observing the following:
- Adjusting fog lamps.
Tightening Specifications
Fog Lamp Bulbs, Audi A6 from 06.2008
Removing
- Remove fog lamp. Refer to => [ Fog Lamps, Audi A6, through 06.2008 ].
- Turn bulb - 1 - counter-clockwise - arrow - and pull it out of fog light housing - 2 -.
Installing
Install in reverse order of removal, observing the following:
- Install the new bulb (H11 - 12V, 55 W) into the housing being careful not to touch the glass cone with bare hands.
- Secure light bulb by turning clockwise.
- Adjusting fog lamps.
Fog Lamps, Audi S6 and Audi RS 6
The fog lamp is integrated in the headlamp housing and cannot be replaced individually if malfunctioning.
- Replace the headlamp: for the Audi S6 refer to => [ Headlamp, when Reusing Current Headlamp ] Headlamp, when Reusing Current Headlamp and for the Audi RS 6 refer to => [ Headlamp, when Reusing Current Headlamp ] Headlamp, when Reusing Current Headlamp.
Fog Lamp Bulb, Audi S6 and Audi RS 6
Removing
CAUTION!
Danger to life due to high voltage.
- With ignition switched off, disconnect battery Ground (GND) cable. Refer to => [ Battery, Disconnecting and Connecting ] Battery, Disconnecting and Connecting.
Left Headlamp - Audi S6:
- Remove air filter housing => [ Left Air Filter Housing, Removing
- Vehicles with 10-cyl. Gasoline Engine ] Preparing to Work on Headlamps.
Right Headlamp - Audi S6:
- Remove air filter housing => [ Right Air Filter Housing, Removing
- Vehicles with 10-cyl. Gasoline Engine ] Preparing to Work on Headlamps.
Audi RS 6:
- Remove headlamp, refer to => [ Headlamp, when Reusing Current Headlamp ] Headlamp, when Reusing Current Headlamp.
All:
- Release securing guides - arrows - and remove headlamp housing cover.
- Disconnect the electrical connector - 1 - on the light.
- Open the wire clamp - 2 - and remove the bulb - 3 - from the housing.
Installing
Install in reverse order of removal, observing the following:
- Insert the new bulb into the housing without touching the bulb with bare hands.
- Secure the bulb with spring clip.
- Reconnect harness connectors and close housing cover.
Audi RS 6:
- Install the headlamp. Refer to => [ Headlamp, when Reusing Current Headlamp ] Headlamp, when Reusing Current Headlamp.
All:
- Adjusting fog lamps.
