Strut Assembly Replacement

Removal Procedure

1. Raise the vehicle just high enough to remove the tire and wheel assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation (Service and Repair) .
2. Remove the stabilizer shaft link from the front suspension strut. Refer to Stabilizer Shaft Link Replacement (Service and Repair) .




3. Remove the front suspension strut mounting nut (1) on the front suspension strut stud (2).
4. Raise the vehicle high enough to access the lower front suspension strut bolts.
5. Support the lower control arm with a adjustable jack stand.




6. Remove the front suspension strut nut (2) from the front suspension strut bolts (5).
7. Disconnect the wheel speed sensor electrical connectors (3) and (4).
8. Remove the wheel speed sensor bracket (1), and relocate to the side.




9. Remove the front suspension strut bolts (2) from the front suspension strut (1).




10. Remove the front suspension strut (2) from the vehicle (1).



Installation Procedure





1. Position the front suspension strut (2) in the vehicle (1).





Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice (Fastener Notice) .

2. Install the front suspension front mounting nuts (1) on the front suspension strut studs (2).

Tighten the front suspension front mounting nuts (1) to 20 N.m (15 lb ft).

3. Using the adjustable jack stand, lift the lower control arm to allow the installation of the front suspension strut.




4. Install the front suspension strut bolts (2) in the front suspension strut (1).




5. Reconnect the wheel speed sensor electrical connectors (3) and (4).
6. Position the wheel speed sensor bracket (1) on the front suspension strut bolts (5).
7. Install the front suspension strut nuts (2) on the front suspension strut bolts (5).

Tighten the front suspension strut nuts to 120 N.m (89 lb ft).

8. Install the stabilizer shaft link the front suspension strut. Refer to Stabilizer Shaft Link Replacement (Service and Repair) .
9. Install the tire and wheel assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation (Service and Repair) .
10. Align the front end. Refer to Wheel Alignment Specifications (Specifications) .
