F: CO Displayed, Gauge Blanks Out Fuel Tank Symbol and Lights Top Two and Bottom Two Bars of Gauge








F1 CHECK FUEL SENDER WIRING AT SENDER


^ Disconnect battery ground cable


^ Lower fuel tank to gain access to fuel sender connector.


^ Unplug fuel sender connector.


^ Jumper variable resistance terminal and ground terminal of harness together.


^ Reconnect battery ground cable


^ Turn ignition switch lock cylinder from OFF to RUN.


^ Check digital fuel remaining display for CO or CS.


Is CO displayed?

NOTE: It may take several minutes for the gauge to respond. Yes


GO to F3.

No

GO to F2. REMOVE jumper.



F2 CHECK SENDER


^ Turn ignition switch lock cylinder to OFF.


^ Using Rotunda Digital Volt-Ohmmeter 014-00407 or equivalent, measure the resistance of the fuel sender at the sender terminals.


^ Is the resistance between 10 and 172 ohms?


Yes

INSPECT fuel sender wiring connector female terminals for flash or loose fit. SERVICE as required.


No

REPLACE sender.


F3 CHECK FUEL SENDER WIRING CLUSTER


^ Disconnect battery ground cable


^ Remove instrument cluster and secure connectors from shorting.


^ Jumper variable resistance terminal and ground terminal of harness together at sender.


^ Verify continuity between Pins 6 and 8 (ground) of cluster Connector A.


^ Is there continuity?


Yes

REPLACE instrument cluster.

NOTE: Affix odometer sticker to door pillar.


No

SERVICE fuel sender wiring for open circuit.
