Inspection and Verification (Start Testing Here)
NOTE: The REM, FEM, and the RKE (DDM) must be reconfigured upon replacement. REFER to Information Bus.1. Verify the customer concern by operating the system.
2. Visually inspect for obvious signs of mechanical and electrical damage.

3. If an obvious cause for an observed or reported concern is found, correct the cause (if possible) before proceeding to the next step.
4. If the concern remains after the inspection, connect the New Generation STAR (NGS) Tester to the data link connector located beneath the instrument panel and select the vehicle to be tested from the NGS menu. If the NGS does not communicate with the vehicle:
^ check that the program card is properly installed.
^ check the connections to the vehicle.
^ check the ignition switch position.
5. If the NGS still does not communicate with the vehicle, refer to the New Generation STAR Tester manual.
6. Perform the DATA LINK DIAGNOSTIC TEST. If the NGS responds with:
^ CKT914, CKT915 or CKT7O = ALLECUS NO RESP/NOT EQUIP, refer to Information Bus.
^ NO RESP/NOT EQUIP for FEM, go to Pinpoint Test A. Test A: No Communication W/Front Electronic Module
^ NO RESP/NOT EQUIP for REM, go to Pinpoint Test B. Test B: No Communication With the Module-Rear Electronic Module
^ NO RESP/NOT EQUIP for RKE (DDM), go to Pinpoint Test C. Test C: No Communication With the Module-Remote Keyless Entry
^ SYSTEM PASSED, retrieve and record the continuous Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs), erase the continuous DTCs and perform self-test diagnostics for the FEM, REM, and RKE (DDM).
7. If the DTCs retrieved are related to the concern, go to the FEM DTC Index, FEM Diagnostic Trouble Code Index
REM DTC Index, REM Diagnostic Trouble Code Index
RKE (DDM) DTC Index, RKE (DDM) Diagnostic Trouble Code Index
or SSP Relay Index to continue diagnostics. Component Tests and General Diagnostics
8. If no DTCs related to the concern are retrieved, proceed to Symptom Chart to continue diagnostics. Symptom Related Diagnostic Procedures
