Normal Operation
The instrument cluster receives the supplemental restraint system (SRS) status from the restraints control module (RCM) over the high speed controller area network (HS-CAN) communication bus. If an SRS concern is detected, the RCM sets a DTC and sends a message to the instrument cluster to turn on the air bag warning indicator. If the SRS status message is missing or is deemed invalid for more than 5 seconds, the instrument cluster sets DTC U0151 and defaults the air bag warning indicator on.

DTC U0151 - sets in continuous memory if the safety belt status message is missing for more than 5 seconds.

Possible Causes
- Low battery voltage
- Restraints control module (RCM)
- Instrument cluster
