Test Q: The LH/RH Turn Indicator Is Never On

PINPOINT TEST Q: THE LH/RH TURN INDICATOR IS NEVER ON

Normal Operation
The instrument cluster (IC) receives the LH and RH turn signal/hazard status from the smart junction box (SJB) over the medium speed controller area network (MS-CAN) communication bus. When the LH or RH turn signal or hazards have been selected, the SJB sends a message to the instrument cluster (IC) to turn on the LH or RH turn indicator. If the LH or RH turn status message is missing for more than 5 seconds, the instrument cluster (IC) sets DTC U0140 and defaults the turn indicators off.

NOTE: If DTC U0140 is set in the SJB, other symptoms may also be present such as tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS), instrument panel backlighting, and door ajar indication.

This pinpoint test is intended to diagnose the following:
- SJB
- Instrument cluster (IC)
