Test C: Poor Quality/Distorted/No Sound From One Or More Speakers (Not All Speakers)
PINPOINT TEST C: POOR QUALITY/DISTORTED/NO SOUND FROM ONE OR MORE SPEAKERS (NOT ALL SPEAKERS)Normal Operation
The audio control module (ACM) directs the audio signals to the speakers through separate positive and negative circuits for each speaker. The ACM provides internal circuit protection for shorts to ground, shorts to voltage, and shorts between any output circuits.
On vehicles equipped with a DVD entertainment system, the rear speaker output is sent from the ACM to the rear entertainment module (RETM). This allows the RETM to control the rear speakers during dual-play mode.
- DTC B2965 (Audio System Speaker Circuit Fault) - sets when an open, a short to ground, or a short to voltage is detected on speaker circuits. The ACM checks for faults once every 500 ms during normal operation.
This pinpoint test is intended to diagnose the following:
- Wiring, terminals or connectors
- Speaker
- RETM
- ACM
