Test G: The Remote Keyless Entry (RKE) Transmitter Is Inoperative

PINPOINT TEST G: THE REMOTE KEYLESS ENTRY (RKE) TRANSMITTER IS INOPERATIVE

Normal Operation
Remote locking/unlocking of the doors and activation/deactivation of the panic alarm is accomplished by the vehicle security module (VSM) receiving a command message from the remote keyless entry (RKE) transmitter. The VSM processes the command and provides the appropriate output for the button pressed.

The RKE transmitters and VSM also utilize a rolling code to prevent the code from being "captured" by a code grabber. The system advances the counter in the RKE transmitter and VSM every time an RKE transmitter button is pressed.

- DTC B2425 (Remote Keyless Entry Out of Synchronization) - is a continuous DTC that sets when the VSM detects the rolling counter received from an RKE transmitter is 1,024 or more times greater than the rolling counter stored in the module.

This pinpoint test is intended to diagnose the following:
- RKE transmitter
- RKE transmitter battery
- RKE transmitter button pressed a substantial amount of times while outside the range of the vehicle
- RKE transmitter programming
- VSM
