Pinpoint Test AI: The CHECK PARK ASSIST/PARK ASSIST OFF Warning Is Inoperative

Normal Operation

The parking aid on/off status is sent from the Parking Aid Module (PAM) to the Instrument Cluster (IC) over the Medium Speed Controller Area Network (MS-CAN) communication bus lines. When the RESET button is pressed, the IC sends a query to the PAM, requesting a system status. The PAM responds to the IC with the status of the system, either on or off. If the return status message is missing or corrupt, the IC does not display the brackets around either the ON or OFF selection.

This pinpoint test is intended to diagnose the following:

- Parking aid system concern
- Communication network
