Removal

All vehicles

1. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. For additional information, refer to Vehicle Jacking and Lifting.

2. Remove the instrument panel lower finish panel.





3. Remove 4 bolts and remove the instrument panel lower reinforcement panel.





4. Tilt the steering column up and remove the lower shroud.

1. Remove the 3 screws and lower shroud.





5. Tilt the steering column down and remove the upper steering column shroud.

6. NOTICE: To prevent selector lever cable damage, do not apply force to the selector lever cable assembly between the steering column selector lever arm and the steering column bracket.

Remove the selector lever cable from the steering column.

1. Disconnect the selector lever cable from the selector lever arm.

2. Carefully lift the locking tab and disconnect the selector lever cable from the steering column bracket.

3. Disconnect the selector lever cable retainer.





7. Push the rubber grommet and selector lever cable down through the dash panel.

8. Remove the heat shield.





9. NOTICE: To prevent selector lever cable damage, do not apply force to the selector lever cable between the manual control lever and the selector lever cable bracket.

Remove the selector lever cable from the manual control lever.





10. Remove the selector lever cable clip to release the selector lever cable from the bracket.





4R75E transmission

11. NOTICE: To prevent selector lever cable damage, do not apply force to the selector lever cable between the transmission manual control lever and the selector lever cable bracket.

Disconnect the selector lever cable at the manual control lever.





12. Remove the locking tab and selector lever cable from the bracket.
- Discard the locking tab.





Installation

6R80 transmission

1. NOTICE: To prevent selector lever cable damage, do not apply force to the selector lever cable between the manual control lever and the selector lever cable bracket.

NOTE: When installing the selector lever cable, make sure that the selector lever cable locking tabs are locked in place. Press the selector lever cable into the bracket and listen for the selector lever cable to click into place. Pull back on the selector lever cable to make sure that it is locked into the bracket.

Install the selector lever cable clip on to the selector lever cable and attach the selector lever cable into the bracket.





2. NOTE: When installing the selector lever cable end, make sure that the selector lever cable end is correctly installed onto the manual control lever. Pull back on the selector lever cable end to make sure that the selector lever cable end is correctly installed onto the manual control lever.

Install the selector lever cable onto the manual control lever and move the locking tab down.





3. NOTE: Install a new heat shield if it is loose on the cable.

Install the heat shield.





4R75E transmission

4. Connect the locking tab and selector lever cable into the selector lever cable bracket.





5. NOTICE: To prevent selector lever cable damage, do not apply force to the selector lever cable between the transmission manual control lever and the selector lever cable bracket.

NOTE: When installing the selector lever cable end, make sure that the selector lever cable end is correctly installed onto the manual control lever. Pull back on the selector lever cable end to make sure that the selector lever cable end is correctly installed onto the manual control lever.

Install the selector lever cable end onto the manual control lever ball stud.





All vehicles

6. Push the selector lever cable and rubber grommet up through the dash panel.





7. NOTICE: To prevent cable damage, do not apply force to the selector lever cable assembly between the steering column selector lever arm and the steering column bracket.

NOTE: When installing the selector lever cable, make sure that the selector lever cable locking tabs are locked in place. Press the selector lever cable into the bracket and listen for the selector lever cable to click into place. Pull back on the selector lever cable to make sure that it is locked into the bracket.

Install the selector lever cable onto the steering column.

1. Connect the selector lever cable retainer.

2. Connect the selector lever cable onto the steering column bracket.
- Listen for the audible click.

- Pull back on the selector lever cable to make sure that it is correctly installed.

3. Connect the selector lever cable onto the selector lever arm.





8. Tilt the steering column down and install the upper steering column shroud.

9. Tilt the steering column up and install the lower shroud.

1. Install the lower shroud and 3 screws.





10. Install the instrument panel lower reinforcement panel.
- Tighten to 9 Nm (80 lb-in).





11. Verify the vehicle will start in PARK and NEUTRAL. Verify the reverse lamps illuminate in the REVERSE position. If not, selector lever cable adjustment must be performed. For additional information, refer to Selector Lever Cable Adjustment - Column Shift Selector Lever Cable Adjustment - Column Shift. For the 4R75E transmission, check the adjustment of the Transmission Range (TR) sensor.

12. Install the 2 screws and the lower dash panel.
