Pinpoint Test G: The Interior Courtesy Lamps Stay On Continuously
Refer to Wiring Diagram Set 89, Interior Lamps for schematic and connector information. Diagrams By Number
Normal Operation
When the Smart Junction Box (SJB) detects a request for the courtesy lamps (such as an open door or from the instrument panel dimmer switch), the SJB provides voltage to the interior courtesy lamps.
- DTC B2A35 (Interior Lighting Output Circuit Open) - an on-demand DTC that sets when the SJB detects an open from the interior courtesy lighting circuit.
This pinpoint test is intended to diagnose the following:
- Wiring, terminals or connectors
- SJB
PINPOINT TEST G: THE INTERIOR COURTESY LAMPS STAY ON CONTINUOUSLY
NOTICE: Use the correct probe adapter(s) when making measurements. Failure to use the correct probe adapter(s) may damage the connector.
-------------------------------------------------
G1 CHECK THE CARGO LAMP
- Observe the cargo lamp.
- Is the cargo lamp illuminated?
Yes
GO to Pinpoint Test F. Pinpoint Test F: All The Courtesy Lamps Stay On Continuously
No
GO to G2.
-------------------------------------------------
G2 CHECK THE INTERIOR COURTESY LAMP OUTPUT CIRCUIT FOR A SHORT TO VOLTAGE
- Ignition OFF.
- Disconnect: SJB C2280a.
- Ignition ON.
- Do the interior courtesy lamps continue to illuminate?
Yes
REPAIR circuit CLN03 (YE/GY) for a short to voltage. TEST the system for normal operation.
No
GO to G3.
-------------------------------------------------
G3 CHECK FOR CORRECT SJB OPERATION
- Disconnect all the SJB connectors.
- Check for:
- corrosion
- damaged pins
- pushed-out pins
- Connect all the SJB connectors and make sure they seat correctly.
- Operate the system and verify the concern is still present.
- Is the concern still present?
Yes
INSTALL a new SJB. REFER to Body Control Systems. TEST the system for normal operation.
No
The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by a loose or corroded connector. CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test.
