Pinpoint Test AF: The Hazard Warning Indicator Is Inoperative (Hybrid)
Normal Operation
The hazard warning indicator informs the driver that service on the vehicle is required. The input to the Instrument Cluster (IC) is from a message over the High Speed Controller Area Network (HS-CAN) communication network from the PCM, the Transmission Control Module (TCM) and the Battery Control Module - High Voltage Traction Battery (BCM-HVTB).
If the hazard warning status message is missing or if the data is deemed invalid by the IC for more than 5 seconds, the IC sets DTC U0100 in continuous memory. If the transaxle status message is missing or if the data is deemed invalid by the IC for more than 5 seconds, the IC sets DTC U0101 in continuous memory. If the traction battery status message is missing or if the data is deemed invalid by the IC for more than 5 seconds, the IC sets DTC U0111 in continuous memory.
If any one of the three messages are missing with the other two valid, the IC defaults the hazard warning indicator to the last observable state (on or off). If all three messages are missing and the IC does not see an ignition switch transition into RUN/START, the IC defaults the hazard warning indicator to the last observable state (on or off). If all three messages are missing during an ignition switch transition into RUN/START, the IC defaults the hazard warning indicator on.
This pinpoint test is intended to diagnose the following:
- Powertrain concern
- Traction battery concern
- Transaxle concern
- IC
