Generator - 3.5L GTDI
Removal and Installation
1. Disconnect the battery. For additional information, refer to Battery, Mounting and Cables Battery Disconnect.
2. Loosen clamp and position aside CAC inlet tube.
- Tighten to 5 Nm (44 lb-in).
3. Remove the generator stud nut.
- Tighten to 47 Nm (35 lb-ft).
4. Remove the ACL cover and Air Cleaner (ACL) outlet tube. For additional information, refer to Intake Air Distribution and Filtering [1][2]Diagrams.
5. Rotate the accessory drive belt tensioner and remove the accessory drive belt from the generator.
6. Position the generator B+ protective boot aside, remove the B+ terminal nut and position the B+ terminal aside.
- Tighten to 17 Nm (150 lb-in).
7. Disconnect the generator electrical connector and position the harness aside.
8. Remove the lower generator bolt.
- Tighten to 47 Nm (35 lb-ft).
9. Remove the generator stud and the generator.
- Tighten the generator stud to 8 Nm (71 lb-in).
10. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
