Removal and Installation

All vehicles

1. Drain the cooling system. For additional information, refer to Cooling System Draining, Filling and Bleeding Cooling System Draining, Filling and Bleeding.

2. Evacuate the A/C system. For additional information, refer to Climate Control System - General Information and Diagnostics Air Conditioning (A/C) System Recovery, Evacuation and Charging.

3. Remove the air cleaner outlet pipe. For additional information, refer to Intake Air Distribution and Filtering Diagrams.

4. Remove the headlamp assemblies. For additional information, refer to Exterior Lighting Service and Repair.

5. Remove the RH and LH air deflector-to-grille bracket pushpins.

6. Remove the 4 upper and 2 lower bolts, release the clips and remove the grille bracket.
- To install, tighten the upper bolts to 40 Nm (30 lb-ft).

- To install, tighten the lower bolts to 3 Nm (27 lb-in).

7. Remove the 2 nuts and disconnect the A/C condenser outlet tube fitting and the A/C compressor-to-condenser tube fitting from the A/C condenser.
- Remove and discard the gaskets and O-ring seals.

- Push the A/C tubes through the RH air deflector.

- Install new gaskets and O-ring seals.

- To install, tighten to 15 Nm (133 lb-in).

8. Disconnect the horn electrical connector.

Vehicles without ESOF

9. Disconnect the ESOF solenoid electrical connector from the dummy connector.

10. If equipped with a 6.2L engine, remove the bolt and detach the cooling fan clutch electrical connector bracket from the cooling fan shroud.
- To install, tighten to 7 Nm (62 lb-in).

11. Detach the 6 wiring harness retainers from the cooling fan shroud.

Vehicles with ESOF

12. If equipped with a 6.2L engine, remove the bolt and detach the cooling fan clutch electrical connector bracket from the cooling fan shroud.
- To install, tighten to 7 Nm (62 lb-in).

13. Disconnect the vacuum reservoir-to-hubs vacuum connector from the vacuum reservoir.

14. Disconnect the vacuum solenoid electrical connector.

15. Disconnect the intake manifold-to-vacuum reservoir vacuum hose connector from the vacuum reservoir.

16. Disconnect the 2 wiring harness retainers from the vacuum reservoir and the 4 wiring harness retainers from the cooling fan shroud.

All vehicles

17. Remove the spring clip and disconnect the lower radiator hose from the radiator.
- To install, install the spring clip and connect the lower radiator hose to the radiator, making sure the lower radiator hose is secure.

18. Release the clamp, disconnect the radiator overflow hose from the radiator, detach the radiator overflow hose retainer and position the radiator overflow hose aside.

19. Open the hood latch cable connector housing, disconnect the cable, detach the cable retainer and position the cable aside.

20. Remove the bolt and position the power steering fluid reservoir aside.
- To install, tighten to 7 Nm (62 lb-in).

21. Remove the spring clip and disconnect the upper radiator hose from the radiator.
- To install, install the spring clip and connect the upper radiator hose to the radiator, making sure the upper radiator hose is secure.

22. Detach the degas bottle-to-lower radiator hose retainer from the cooling fan shroud.

23. Detach the power steering fluid reservoir-to-power steering cooler hose retainer from the radiator and the LH air deflector.

24. Detach the power steering gear-to-power steering fluid cooler hose retainer from the radiator and the LH air deflector.

25. Remove the LH air deflector-to-towing hook bracket pushpin.

26. Remove the 2 bolts and position the power steering fluid cooler aside.
- To install, tighten to 11 Nm (97 lb-in).

27. Detach the 5 wiring harness retainers from the cooling fan shroud.

28. Detach the front impact severity sensor wiring harness retainer from the cooling fan shroud.

29. Remove the transmission cooler tube secondary latches.

30. NOTICE: Failure to cap the openings for the transmission cooler tubes may result in siphoning of the transmission fluid. This may result in damage to the transmission, if the transmission fluid is not checked and filled after the repair is completed.

NOTE: Install caps on the transmission cooler tubes.

Using the Transmission Cooler Line Disconnect Tool, disconnect the transmission cooler tube quick connect fittings.

31. Detach the transmission fluid cooler retainer from the RH frame rail.

32. Remove the 3 lower air deflector-to-front bumper pushpins.

33. Remove the 2 radiator bolster bolts and with the help of an assistant the cooling module.
- To install, tighten to 40 Nm (30 lb-ft).

34. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
